Our history in the U.S. began in 1898 when our founder worked to expand the railroads in the West. Since then, we’ve built a multitude of iconic projects in the U.S., including the Hoover Dam, the San Francisco Bay Bridge, the world’s first nuclear power reactor to generate electricity, the Bay Area Rapid Transit System, the Tacoma Narrows Bridge, and the Boston Central Artery/Tunnel Project.
For over seven decades, we have built some of the U.K.’s most iconic projects, including the Elizabeth Line, Channel Tunnel, London City and Gatwick Airport expansions, and Great Yarmouth Power Station. We have also supported numerous national defense and security projects for the U.K. government.
Since 1942, we have been instrumental in the development of major industrial projects and the economic growth of Canada, beginning with the 2,290-kilometer Canol Pipeline. We have since completed more than 800 projects or studies in Canada.
We have worked in the Middle East for more than 80 years, developing oil and gas facilities, airports, industrial plants, and critical infrastructure. These projects include the development of the Jubail industrial city, the extinguishing of the Kuwait oil fires, the King Fahd and King Khalid airports, world-scale smelters in Bahrain, and the Riyadh Metro.
For more than 70 years, we have delivered projects in every Australian state and territory, including mines, minerals processing facilities, LNG installations, refineries, chemical plants, power stations, and telecommunications infrastructure.
We have worked in the Asia Pacific for more than 60 years. In that time, we have completed hundreds of projects across a wide range of industries, including the petrochemical, power, infrastructure, industrial, and commercial sectors.
We have decades of experience delivering projects in Latin America, beginning in 1940 with the construction of the company’s first-ever overseas project, the Mene Grande pipeline in Venezuela. Our work in the region also includes numerous mining projects, desalination systems, petrochemical plants, metro systems, and infrastructure improvements to support the 2014 World Cup and 2016 Olympics.
Our work in Europe includes vital motorways, metro systems, and energy infrastructure in Central and Eastern Europe, including Poland’s first nuclear power plant.
